May 20th, 2012

Just after 5 AM on 5-20-12, the MJFD was dispatched to Elm Court in the Whispering Woods townhome complex for a working structure fire. Chief 200 arrived to find heavy fire showing from a 3rd floor unit extending into to the roof and requested a 2nd alarm. All units cleared the scene by 10:30 AM. Thanks to the Kendall Park, Kingston, North Brunswick #2, Jamesburg, Brookview, & Plainsboro Fire Companies for your help on scene, and to the Little Rocky Hill & Franklin Park Fire Companies for covering the Township. There were no injuries, and the MJFAS stood by on scene for rehab.

May 13th, 2012

At 1:30 PM on 5-13-12, the MJFD was dispatched to aid the Kingston Fire Company for a roof top fire at one of the Dow Jones Buildings on Route 1. The incident would go to a second alarm. Chief 200 and 17 MJFD firefighters responded aboard Tower 201, Engine 208, Support 207 & Utility 209. Units cleared the scene just before 4 PM.

May 10th, 2012

Around 9:20 PM on 5-10-12, the MJFD was dispatched to Building 15 North Umberland Way for a waterflow alarm. Chief 200 arrived to find a smoke condition with sprinkler head activation in a vacant apartment on the third floor. Crews gained access to the apartment and located a smoldering fire in a closet. Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the smoke. Responding were Chiefs 200 & 210, Engine 208, Tower 201, Rescue 205, Support 207, and the MJFAS. All units cleared the scene shortly before 11 PM.

May 3rd, 2012

On 5-3-2012, 28 firefighters of the MJFD participated in a live burn drill at the Mercer County Fire Academy. Also participating were 5 firefighters from the Kendall Park Fire Company aboard their new Rescue 228. Special thank you to the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad for providing rehab for our members!

May 2nd, 2012

Shortly after 8 PM on 5-2-12, the MJFD was dispatched to a residence in Bayberry Court in the Whispering Woods development for a fire on the third floor balcony. The resident extinguished most of the fire with an extinguisher prior to arrival. Firefighters stretched a hoseline to the third floor and completed extinguishment. Responding were Chiefs 200 & 210, Engines 208 & 206, Tower 201, Rescue 205, Support 207, Kendall Park Fire, and Monmouth Junction & Kendall Park EMS. There were no injuries. All units cleared by 10:45 PM.

May 2nd, 2012

Shortly after 6 AM on 5-2-12, the MJFD was dispatched to Route 1 Northbound prior to Deans Lane for an MVA with entrapment. Upon arrival, firefighters located a vehicle that left the roadway and became airborne, striking several trees and landing on its tires. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to extricate the driver using the Jaws of Life. Responding were Chiefs 200 & 210, Rescue 205, Engines 208 & 206, and Support 207.
