June 20th, 2012

Just before 1:30 PM on 6/20, the MJFD was dispatched to a warehouse on Cranbury-South River Road for an activated waterflow alarm. Upon arrival, employees reported a fire in a trailer parking in one of the loading docks. A trailer loaded with stuffed animals caught fire, which was contained by the sprinkler system and employees using several hose stations. MJFD Engine 208, Tower 201, Support 207 and Cranbury Engine 48-3 responded.

June 20th, 2012

While crews were operating at the trailer fire on Cranbury-South River Road on 6/20, the MJFD was dispatched to the Stop & Shop on Summerfield Blvd. for a fire in the elevator mechanical room. Tower 201 & Cranbury Engine 48-3 responded from the trailer fire, along with Kendall Park Engine 221. It was determined that the elevator motor had ignited and was quickly extinguished by employees. Crews confirmed the fire was out and checked for extension.

June 20th was a busy day for the MJFD, responding to 8 calls during the afternoon hours.

June 16th, 2012

At 10:11 PM on June 16th, the MJFD was dispatched to Building J in the Quincy Circle complex in Dayton for a possible structure fire. Chief Spahr arrived to find a fire that started on the exterior of the residence rapidly extending in to the second floor and attic. Chief Spahr requested a first alarm, bringing the Kendall Park & Kingston Fire Companies, as well as North Brunswick #2 for the rapid... intervention company. Cranbury & Jamesburg Fire stood-by at Station 20 to cover the Township. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire, preventing damage to the other 7 units in the building. All units cleared the scene by 1 AM. This is the 4th working structure fire in South Brunswick since May 13th and the 3rd in Monmouth Junction's district.

June 14th, 2012

Around 11:30 AM on June 14th, the MJFD was dispatched to a commercial building on Commerce Drive for a heavy smoke condition. Crews from Engine 208 & Tower 201 determined the source of the smoke to be from a malfunctioning HVAC unit motor on the roof. Firefighters isolated the utilities to the unit and cleared the scene just after 12:30 PM.

June 14th, 2012

Around 11:30 AM on June 14th, the MJFD was dispatched to a commercial building on Commerce Drive for a heavy smoke condition. June 13th, 2012

Shortly after 11:30 AM on June 13th, the MJFD was dispatched to the area of Georges Road & Viking Way for a motor vehicle accident with extrication. Firefighters arrived to find a Dodge minivan off the roadway, overturned on the driver's side with the driver still inside. Crews from Rescue 205 & Engine 208 stablized the vehicle with rescue struts and helped South Brunswick EMS package and remove the victim through the rear hatch door.

June 4th, 2012

Just before 5 AM on June 4th, the MJFD was dispatched to 115 Interstate Blvd. off Davidsons Mill Road for a vehicle fire. Deputy Chief 210 arrived to find a four-door passenger vehicle fully involved. Firefighters from Engines 206 & 208 extinguished the fire using a CAFS hoseline from E206. Also responding was the MJ First Aid Squad. This was the 5th working fire (3 structure fires & 2 vehicle fires) in less than a month from the MJFD.

June 2nd, 2012

On Sunday June 3rd at around 4:30 PM, the MJFD was dispatched to Cranbury-South River Road for a structure fire. Firefighters arrived to find a fully involved abandoned house set-back in the woods. Firefighters from Monmouth Junction, Kingston, Kendall Park, Jamesburg & North Brunswick #2 extinguished the fire. Also responding were the Monmouth Junction & Kendall Park First Aid Squads. All units cleared the scene by 8 PM. This was the 3rd working structure fire in less than a month, all on a Sunday.
